SafeClass Shield ("we," "our," or "us") provides parental control, educational tracking, and device management services designed to help parents monitor and guide their children's online and academic activity.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when parents and children use SafeClass Shield.

2. Information We Collect

A. Parent Account Information

When a parent creates an account, we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Authentication credentials
  • Billing information (processed by third-party payment providers)

We do not store full payment card numbers.

B. Child Profile Information

Parents create child profiles. We collect:

  • Child display name
  • Linked school platform identifiers (if connected)
  • Device identifiers linked to the child

We do not require children to create standalone accounts.

C. Device Information

When a device is paired:

  • Device ID
  • Operating system version
  • App version
  • Protection status
  • Last active timestamp
  • Network enforcement status

D. Activity Data

If enabled by the parent, we collect:

  • Access attempts to websites
  • Approved or blocked domain activity
  • App install attempts (if device management enabled)
  • School assignment data via integrated LMS platforms
  • Assignment status (missing, late, submitted)

We do not collect the contents of personal messages, photos, or unrelated personal files.

E. LMS Integration Data

If connected to Google Classroom, Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard, we collect:

  • Course names
  • Assignment titles
  • Due dates
  • Submission status
  • Grade data (if enabled)

We do not modify school data.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Enforce device restrictions
  • Block or allow internet access
  • Display missing or late assignments
  • Power the Study Snowball prioritization system
  • Send notifications
  • Improve performance and reliability
  • Comply with legal requirements

We do not sell personal data.

4. Parental Control and Consent (COPPA Compliance)

SafeClass Shield is designed for parental supervision.

Parents have full control to:

  • Create child profiles
  • Control monitoring settings
  • Control device restrictions
  • Approve or deny website access
  • Connect school platforms
  • Review and delete child data

We require parental consent before collecting information from children under 13.

6. Data Retention

We retain:

  • Parent account data while account is active
  • Child activity logs for up to 12 months
  • LMS data only as needed to power assignment tracking

Parents may request deletion of child data at any time.

Upon account deletion:

  • Child profiles are deleted
  • Device pairings are revoked
  • LMS tokens are invalidated

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

No system is completely secure, but we take commercially reasonable measures to protect data.
